I've been here countless times and Silantro Fil-Mex still remains a favorite Mexican stop. While the menu is simple, it's filled with favorites that have adapted to the Filipino palate. For me, what really stands out is the Beef Nachos (PHP 180) for its cheesy goodness! It's really gooey unlike the Cheez Whiz-like consistency they usually serve at other Mexican restos.
Another favorite is the Dinamita (PHP 140), cheese-filled Jalapeno peppers. It's not spicy at all, but it's piping hot! (Hmm...Maybe they used bechamel sauce, because the cheese was runny.)
Finally, we have the Calliente Wings (PHP 180), their version of buffalo wings. It's somewhat spicy like with Sriracha or something, but I like how it's also tangy and mildly sweet like barbecue sauce. Good food keeps you guessing the ingredients.
These are really just appetizers. Silantro also has main courses, but we always go for Soft Shell Tacos which can come in any combination of meats like chicken, pork, beef, ox tail, ox tongue and lamb.
The best part about all this is that it's really affordable given the serving size. We only spend about PHP 250 per person each time, yet we walk out of there feeling like we've had two meals. They've taken out their alcohol, which is really sad because they make really awesome Mojitos and Margaritas. I loved the balance between the sweet and citrusy taste versus the bite of the alcohol. For now, I have to settle for the Dalandan Juice (PHP 90). BRING THE ALCOHOL BACK! :)
