The place definitely exuded high class with sophisticated servers and authentic Thai food of royalty standards. The ambiance was further elevated by the reverberating sound of the Khim, a stringed instrument that was being played by an authentic Thai professional. Can't expect anything less from Dusit Thani.

We came here for a casual Sunday lunch with the grandparents as a family. For starters, we each had a bowl of Tom Khai Gai (Chicken in Coconut Milk Soup). Yum! What I liked about this soup in particular is how the chicken was tender. My mom told me to leave the chicken in order to save space, but I couldn't let good chicken go to waste.

We also got 2 kinds of salads: Yam Som O (pomelo salad) andYam Pla Duk Foo (green mango salad with crispy fried catfish). Both were sour like they ought to be, but not sour enough to give me ulcer. They definitely got my appetite going. The final appetizer was the Por Pia Savouey (Thai spring roll), which was had some vegetables and glass noodles inside.

For mains, we got 2 kinds of curry: red and yellow. While the Gaeng Karee Gai (yellow curry with chicken) wasn't bad, it was overshadowed by the Gaeng Masaman Nuea (red curry with beef), which had become my favorite dish in Benjarong. The red curry was sweet yet slightly savory with a hint of coconut milk and spices, but not at all spicy (hot). On top of that, the flavors had really seeped into the beef. Exceptional!

Our server suggested we get plain rice for the curries, but we had already ordered 2 kinds of fried rice: Khao Pad Gung (Thai fried rice with prawn) and Khao Pad Sapparod (pineapple fried rice). The pineapple fried rice was the bomb! Each grain had the sweet pineapple taste. Loooove!

Our other main course dishes were the Pla Jaramet Sam Rod (deep-fried pomfret), Ped Pad Prikthai Dam (stir-fried duck) and Phad See Iew Moo (stir-frid flat noodles with pork and Chinese broccoli). The duck was good while it was sizzling hot. I felt the fish and the noodles were only okay.

We ended this hearty meal with my favorite Thai dessert: Khanom Tako (coconut cream with tapioca). The cream was so good I had to have a second piece! Gaaaah! :)
