I haven't dined at any Banapple branch in at least 2 years, so when a friend invited me to try their Gateway branch, I gladly obliged. We had 2 rice meals and an order of chicken wings from Banapple's sister resto, Sandwicheese, which has a booth inside this branch.
I tried the baked fish gratinee with scalloped potatoes primarily because of curiosity - what the hell are scalloped potatoes? Haha! These are actually thinly sliced potatoes, which I loved albeit the measly amount. The baked white fish was bathed in cream sauce and mozzarella. This dish was a bit too salty for me, but the saltiness was somehow neutralized because of the white rice.
My friend tried the crisp pork scallopini with sour cream-barbecue sauce, and I like the sauce used! The pork cutlets needed a little more cooking, though, as they were a bit tough to slice/chew.
The wings of Sandwicheese come in two sauces: barbecue and buffalo. The former's sweet, so we prefer the latter because of its yummy spiciness! The actual wings were so-so. They seemed dry and hard on the outside, but the inside's soft enough. The batter used for the chicken reminded us of meatballs instead of wings.
Overall, it was still a nice lunch, but I won't go back here anytime soon.
