I am not Chinese but I love Chinese food. And so, in gratitude to Chinese culinary culture, I celebrated Chinese New Year by eating at my favorite Chinese restaurant as my personal tribute to the occassion. I ordered Beef Kenchi Noodle Soup and Pan Fried Kutchay Dumplings. As you can see in the photos, the servings were truly a bang for your buck. The noodle soup was tasty and spicy as I expected it to be and was seasoned for that true umami experience. The kutchai dumplings were delciously hot and tasty down to the last piece of it. I finished everything along with their complimentary black tea. Eating authentic Chinese food that tastes this good makes me feel more connected with the occasion. And now that I had finished eating, time to go out for the fireworks display! Wohoo! Kung Hei Fat Choi everyone!

I was invited to accompany my aunt to a senior citizen's mini reunion with her long time friend since her college days to Kyochon. This was my first time trying out this Korean resto and I was excited. We ordered Combo 2 (20 pcs chicken wings original style, a bowl of salad, and 4 drinks) plus Soonsal Strips Medium Size (8 pcs). We added 4 cups of white rice and some clear soup as well. Oh! The chicken wings were heavenly and their choices of dips made it more special. The Soonsal were crispy and tasty hot, I just loved it. Hooray for this day!

We just had our dinner from Katsu Sora and we were looking for desserts and coffee. Since it was Friday night, almost all other coffee and desserts shops were full. Then we saw Eric Kayser, a place of quite and serenity, where at that time only few were at the shop. We ordered Cafe Americano and some sweets. They had a wide variety of pastries to choose from and their coffee selections were good as well. We stayed until around 9pm sharing stories and having a wonderful time. If you are looking for an alternative coffee shop, this one's to go. ^ ^

This was my first time trying out Katsu Sora. The ambiance, the feels, and the food reminds me so much of Japan. What I like the most was their unlimited salad bar selection. Unlike other Japanese restos I had eaten before, they have more choices of greens to choose from (aside from the usual cabbage with dressings). I had two servings of salads, both of separate heaping bowls. They had a wide variety of salad dressings to choose from too. As for the main course, I ordered Cheese and Ohba Mille Feuille Set (Sakura Pork) and Coke with Calamansi for drinks. My aunt and cousin ordered Mixed Seafood Set (Ebi, Salmon, Crab) and Sakura Tonkatsu Curry Set respectively plus water and Coke for drinks. We totally enjoyed the food. It was crispy hot on the outside, yet tender and tasty inside. The coke with calamansi was new to me, and it totally sold me out. Memories from this place will surely make me drool. ^ ^

I went here together with my two friends who were visiting the country for vacation, one from Canada while the other from Los Angeles. We ordered Angus Quesadillas as an appetizer plus local and imported beer according to personal preference. For the main course, we had Seared Tuna with marble potatoes and Beef Salpicao with rice for sharing. Though it was a bit pricey, you can't really complain how good it tasted. And man! The seared tuna was so good! It was perfectly spiced-up with wasabe at the sides and a soy sauce-based dip at your liking. The beef salpicao was heavenly matched with beer you can forget your name. Alright, I am exaggerating but it was really good. For its price and posh location, the taste had it all justified. ^ ^

After Church, my aunt and I went to Robinsons to send a parcel via courier when we decided to have lunch at Tong Yang. Tons of food selections for shabu-shabu and grill. The mood was festive as many families were their with their little kids (it was Sunday, a family day). However, the shrimp was not as fresh as I want it to be. Upon grilling, it did not cook very well because it became watery. Perhaps it was not thawed out properly before putting it in the serving area. The beef on sticks were hard and gummy, and neither grilling it nor putting it on shabu-shabu made it easier to eat and chew. Other than that, we enjoyed the fish and vegetables. The chicken was good too. Overall, it was just a good experience, average at best.

Me and my aunt who came from Davao visited my cousin based in San Juan near Greenhills. It has been awhile since they last saw each other and to celebrate the reunion, we had lunch at Tong Yang, shabu-shabu style! The food was great and was even made better as we exchanged stories and laughter. We ate to our heart's content until our bellies hurt. That was really fun as we bonded over great food! ^ ^

Remembering and celebrating my late grandfather's birthday, we went there together with my tita, my cousin and her husband. My lolo loved classic Filipino dishes, and so we ordered kare-kare, crispy pata, chopseuy, fried chicken, rice, and home grown fruit shakes for the occassion. The food were all delicious and authentic. My favorite was crispy pata, tasty and mouth watering. The kare-kare was also good with all its nutty goodness and the bagoong was heavenly. The chopseuy balances the saltiness of the crispy pata and fried chicken, which in turns makes you want to eat more. My lolo would be 102 years old if he would be alive today, and he would be proud that we celebrated his birhday here. :)

This will be my first time to visit this place. It was great that they have several parking spaces, as this is important to customers. The ambiance was really nice, homey and inviting. We went there as a group to celebrate three birthdays! We ordered beer and food. Oh man!!! The steaks were great! The shrimps were tasty! The pasta, the chicken, and the paella were all cloud 9! Hahaha! Good food! Good friends! Good times! See for yourselves on our pictures - it shows!!!

Pickled Dimsum Soup Surprise and One Piece!

After a day's work, all I want is a bowl of hot noodle soup while watching one of my favorite anime: One Piece. So I rushed in to Suzhou Dimsum to satisfy my cravings... yet again! Lol! This time I ordered their Sauted Pickles (appetizer) and a bowl of Dimsum Noodle Soup. As usual, I was served with their complimentary pot of tea. I started with the pickles and it tasted good. Perfect saltiness and garlicky, but not overpowering. It complimented well the milder tasting broth of the soup. Their dimsum noodle soup had four large dimsum swimming with the noodles and a bit of sea grass at the sides. This noodle soup is milder in flavor than the Taiwan Beef Noodle Soup I ordered before, but by no means less than appetizing. It stood out on its own as it delivered a zen-like broth of goodness to your mouth - smooth to my taste that has a calming effect which makes you want to take your time savoring the food. Perfect for watching One Piece! ^_^ The noodles were also good and tasty on its own. The dimsum was full-packed with delicious pork meat: sweet, sour, and spicy to my delight. For only PhP 200 all in all, what more could I ask for? Yummy goodness at its best!

Our batch in postgraduate school (only 4 of us) had a great time enjoying each other's company along with excellent food and choices of beer. We started off with their appetizers: nachos with cheese and mango salsa, bacon chilli fingers, and a bottle of beer while waiting for our classmate to arrive. The nachos was exceptionally good while the bacon chilli fingers complemented the beer to our gustatory delight. When all had arrived, we ordered Crispy Pata, Drunken Mussels, Bagoong Adobo Rice, White Rice (Yes! We ordered it on top of the bagoong adobo rice!), and another round of beer plus soft drinks. The crispy pata was sinfully delightful and drool worthy of our time. It was crispy on the outside, yet tender and luscious inside. It was seasoned perfectly to give a salty and peppery taste. The rice was a goner too along with the mussles to our seemingly black-hole-like appetite. We finished the crispy pata in 10 mins and stripped it down to its bones and cotyledons. We capped it off with the final order of stuffed squid on a bed of arugula salad. It was such a treat! The only downside I can think of was they don't have internet connection at the time of our visit and one of the beer bottles that was served was dirty. They seemed to forgot to wipe that bottle clean which I pointed out to the staff. Overall the staff was nice and accommodating :-)
