Despite having very tiny floorspace, Cafe Mary Grace is a great place for long conversations, if you are lucky enough to secure a seat inside. Its dainty, homey feeling was perfect when I brought girl friends here for the afternoon. Their tables are decorated with handwritten notes and books hung from the walls, which you can pick up while waiting for your order. The seat outside however may be a different story, as it has high foot traffic being just beside the escalators.
We ordered Vegetables on Focaccia (PHP216), Creamy Carbonara Pasta (PHP330), Cassava Chips with Garlic Dip, Kesong Puti with bread (PHP 145) and Grilled Cheese Roll (PHP50). Everything's delicious, as if it was baked at home. But everything's a bit too pricey for me especially that there's an additional service charge and that the servings are good for one only, and the finger food starters are about good for three. Service is great due to the limited space and therefore better attention on diners. I'd say I'd come back to Cafe Mary Grace for another date, but I'll have to save up for it or perhaps eat beforehand.

All ramen-lovers are out there looking for the most authentic Japanese ramen they could find. New to ramen-lovin are just looking for the in-between -- a little less expensive with shorter lines. At one night, we opted for Ryu Ramen and Curry in Tomas Morato.
We ordered Ryu Ramen Curry, their "flagship" dish I suppose, and out came a heaping bowl of extra spicy curry ramen, beansprouts, egg and beef. It's perfect for the rainy weather and for sharing because of its huge serving size. And I didn't say extra-spicy for no reason. We also tried their gyoza, which quickly distinguished itself from all the other gyozas we've tried before at cheaper Japanese restaurants because of its firm texture. We coupled the gyoza with chahan, which is Japanese fried rice.

Crepeman was my Maginhawa haven for desserts. Can't beat delicious and cheap! It's my go-to place for an easy fix of fruits and hazelnut chocolate. I have stayed far too long inside its walls because of their fast WiFi connection, free plugging and 12-midnight curfew. Not too many people hangout here at daytime, as it is good for takeouts. Which makes it a quiet and inexpensive place to work in.
Crepe-wise, my favorite was "Chaos". It's a fusion of peaches, mangoes and bananas in a Nutella-spread crispy crepe, sprinkled with white choco chips and topped with whipped cream (which often I forego). There are savory crepes also, filled with meat such as bacon, ham, tuna and ground pork, which are equally delicious.
At nighttime, Crepeman is great for post-dinner conversations. Plus points for smelling like Vanilla all the time!

Serving size is huge that the solo serving plus is good enough for two people -- plus one extra rice. Quite affordable for sharing. But the locations need more floor space. I've tried the branches in Tomas Morato and Sct. Roces. Usually, the place is packed. The quick turnover puts pressure not to stay too long and to eat too slow.
A noteworthy feature aside from the ribs is the garlic spinach side. There are other sides to choose from, but I highly recommend garlic spinach. The generous helping of veggies blends well with the ribs. But don't get too carried away, because additional BBQ sauce comes with a price.

My first Okonomiyaki

This was where I first tried Japanese pizza (okonomiyaki) and I wasn't disappointed :) We ordered the sizzling squid variant, and it was so good I only wanted to order only that when I came back. Although the pizza is small in size, I was full by the time I had two slices. So, I think their okonomiyaki is well worth the price.
Plus points for the availability of beer, good WiFi connection and nightly gigs at the veranda. Note though, that they may be closed most of daytime. Makes for a good Friday night hangout.
