Serving Homegrown Filipino food may be a little disadvantageous here in our country. Admit it, we are all too familiar with the taste and Filipinos are way too critical when it comes to anything, specially food. Personally, it took me a while before I discovered a great place to eat local food at a very affordable price. That is why I am very grateful that I was introduced to this very lovely place called Tsoko-Nut.
Ambience: Give me a couch and i can spend my whole day in there! The lights were nice and i really love what they did to the walls. For some reasons, it made me feel that I am at home..
Service:So so if I may say.. Most of the staff are either in the kitchen or tending the counter. You also really need to put a little effort to get their attention.
Food: This is my second visit and I am stoked to try other dishes. On our first visit, we tried their Relyenong Bangus and Daing na Bangus (with Laing). The relyenong bangus was awesome! Despite being bombarded with herbs, spices and other ingredients, the fish meat held it's own. As for the daing na bangus, it was perfect! Not a single fish bone in there and the laing was very good! This one is a must try!
Now, on our second visit, we decided to try their Dinuguan and Coco Liempo. I had some issues with the Coco Liempo. The pork was great (very tender and well cooked) but the sauce was lacking for me. It was thick and creamy but it was a little under-seasoned for my taste (my date thought otherwie though). The Dinuguan on the other hand was delicious! The thick, rich broth was very well seasoned and the meat was amazing. Another must try!
Price: At 130-150php per plate, worth every penny!
Overall: Love! Love! Love! I will definitely come back for more! I am yet to try their Batirol and pastries but i heard they are good.
If you are into Filipino dishes, make time to visit any of their branches! Enjoy a piece of home outside your home..
