It usually takes 3 minutes to bring the ramen from the kitchen to the customer’s table. Thus, the concept of a ramen counter shortens the time needed to serve the ramen because it is prepared literally in front of the customer, he added.
This idea is quite challenging especially in the Philippine setting wherein Filipinos usually dine as a family or group. However, ramen counters are very common in Japan, and Mendokoro Ramenba aims to serve Filipinos with authentic hot bowls of ramen while maintaining its deliciousness up to the last slurp!

Mendokoro opened last December in Salcedo, Soliman street. Mendokoro is somewhat similar to Yushoken, which is in Alabang. It is tonkotsu based and they are baking chashu inside. Well, it's like Japanese style kitchen and I recall one good ramen restaurant in Japan, afuri. For the price, it might be a bit expensive but the taste is very nice. You should definitely try here!!

Mendokoro (and Yushoken) serve really good ramen. For this trip I tried the Karai Tokusei Tsukemen. It was excellent! My brother had the Shoyu, which is also excellent. But what we really love is their melt in your mouth Chashu!

This small ramen restaurant is a gem. I love their setup. Half of the seats are situated so that you can see how they prepare your food, which is really cool.
Ordering your food here is also done differently. First, you go to the cashier to place your order. You will be given an order slip and a guest number if the place is full (which is often, so I've heard. We went on a Sunday afternoon so we were able to immediately get AND choose our seats). Once seated, a staff inside the cooking area will ask for your order slip and proceed to prepare your food. It didn't take a long time for us to get our food.
As for the food, we went for their Shoyo and Tantanmen ramens which are both very, very delicious. We also ordered their gyoza and it's probably the best gyoza that I have ever had.
I never thought I would love another ramen restaurant other than Ramen Nagi - I still believe it's my favorite ramen place - but Mendokoro Ramenba is undoubtedly worth the find.

I've been here twice already. I ordered their best-selling Shoyu Ramen twice on both ocassions and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The soup base was very rich in flavor. Noodles had some flavor as well. The pork chashu slice was heavenly! Melts in your mouth type of pork slice with a smokey taste. You'll know it's authentic as well since lots of Japanese nationals also eat here regularly. It's a bit price-y, but well worth it. This definitely is one of my favorite ramen restaurants!

The Tsukemen is a must try. The grilled chasu is nice if you're a fan. Great quality but a bit too expensive.
