A lot of Sandwiches to choose from

Almon Marina became one of my favorite deli ever since I tasted their New York New York Sandwich during my childhood
New York New York is roast chicken slices, tomatoes, bell pepper, onion slices, cranberry sauce on rye bread.

However when I visited their branch in SM North and ordered New York New York, I was quite disappointed.
It was quite dry and I guess the cranberry sauce was not plenty enough to suffice the sandwich.
We also ordered some of their rice platters:
* Stuffed Pork chop (stuffed with cheese, apples, herbs and spices)
* Fillet Mignon (U.S. beef wrapped with bacon, rice pilaff and herbed veggies)
* Chef's salad

They actually have a wide selection of sandwiches to choose from. There were also some combos llike pasta and sandwiches, sandwiches and salad, soup and salad, etc.

By far one of the yummiest seafood restaurants I've been to.
We dined in this branch and tried their bags by pound shrimp. Good for 3-4persons. Shrimp size is really worth it.
You get to choose the sauce you want: (Mardi Gras,Salty Eggsperience, Coco-SOL (South of Luzon), French Lemony Pepper, The Spaniars, Coco-curry) and we chose Salty Eggsperience one of their famous sauce. Mardi Gra is also one of their best sellers as well. We loved the creaminess of the Egg sauce. It's basically made from Salted egg, pureed and sauteed with steamed shrimps.

We also ordered the following:
*Kani & Shrimp Salad, perfect combination to balance the saltiness of the eggsalted shrimp.
* Chicken Wings - Belachan flavored, very salty for me but it's delicious too.
*Deep Fried baby squid - very crispy and tender squids <3

The dining area serves around 30-40 persons although during our visit, it was not that peak considering it was dinner time.Since the place is small, they don't have installed comfort room, you need to go the the mall's loo to pee.
They have average waiting time for service.

We have been wanting to visit this place since it is just around our neighbor. We actually wanted to try their famous mighty ton burger but we were not that hungry so we decided to order their "sharing" plates.

We ordered the following:
1. The Count of Monte Cristo Sandwich (5/5) - (Ham, turkey, american cheese & white cheese on white bread, battered & fried until golden.) I love the saltiness of the sandwich blended with raspberry dip
2. Sampler (3/5) - this is a platter of their appetizers ( chicken wings, bacon and cheese potato skins & fried cheese)
3. Fisherman's Platter (3/5) - Kalamari, Tavern Shrimp & Battered Fish fillet
4. Panama Orange Iced Tea - just usual iced tea flavor, nothing special
5. Chocolate & Strawberry shake - too sweet

Almost all of the food served was cold. Maybe because they already have a pre-cooked food ready so that they will have fast service or maybe because it wasn't peak hours during our visit.

I may not come back to this place anymore because of the food served.
The place was cozy but you can't enjoy the place if the food is not really good.

A good place to relax and have dessert any time of the day.
The signature dessert they sell is the choco cro (Chocolate Croissant). You can never go wrong with choco cro, so we ordered one. Its crispy yet fluffy croissant goes well with the slightly dark chocolate inside. I think I can have a dozen choco cros a day! :D
We also ordered Classic Fuji which is one of the popular desserts here. It has their signature golden butter Danish, red beans , black honey, Matcha powder and covered with vanilla ice cream. It was not too sweet than I expected and it is really good for sharing.

I would definitely come back here for more choco cros. :D

Ambiance of the cafe is really cozy,
Service was fast as well.

Katsu sora is one of those restaurants who serves Katsu, unlimited Japanese rice, soup, fruits and salad.
You get to choose you type of meat, grams, and what food set will it be (curry, tonkatsu, sukiyaki, katsudon and the like~

What makes this restaurant different is that, the unlimited items that comes along with the set is self service. The salad bar contains few selection of leafy veggies, fruits and also salad dressing.

We ordered Sakura pork tongkatsu-because I wanted to try the main dish served in their resturant. I find it a bit cold and less oily. Maybe because it was already cooked for fast service. The breading is a bit thick compared to others. Sakura pork is lean and tender.
We also ordered Menchi Katsu curry set - Mixed pork from Iberico, Kurobuta, Shimofuri and Sakura cuts. Served with mild curry sauce.

*all set meals comes with unlimited Japanese rice, soup , salad and fruits.

Tongkatsu is common here in the Philippines but still you can't find that perfect tongkatsu that will make you fall in love forever.
Yabu offers authentic Japanese taste and style from chicken to pork to seafood. They have tongkatsu, katsu curry, katsudon, etc.
Recommendation for first timers: try their Rosu Tongkatsu (Pork Loin) 3/4 inch thick , juicy pork cutlet with trimming of fat.
The breading is very light and crispy.
All of their meals are served with unlimited Japanese rice, miso soup, Japanese pickles, unlimited cabbage with sesame dressing and bowl of fruit.

They have a very homey dining area and the staff are accommodating.
Satisfying complete meal worth every penny.

This Taco bar located in Mercato Central, serves Soft tacos with Chorizo,
Chorizo is made from Pork and pork fat sausage originally from Peninsula. Traditionally, it is encased in natiral casings made from intestines.
For a 100 pesos, you get to have 1 medium size deconstructed taco.
When I tried it out, I barely tasted the ground pork but was able to taste the salsa and chorizo. So the flavors were blending inside my mouth. Not that spicy but slightly tangy.

Php 100 per medium size taco
Php 240 for 3 pcs medium size taco

KKK Coffee in this branch is a kiosk bar. I have not yet tried their coffee during our visit because I was having colds and I was looking for hot tea. We looked up their menu and was lucky enough to see that they serve local tea. I was actually looking for "salabat" (Ginger tea) but they don't serve one so I tried their Guyabano Tea. It has guava after taste and it doesn't have that "kick".
I guess it would be better if they offer honey for tea as well.
I'll be coming back to try their coffee as well.

Guyabano Tea = Php 79 / cup

They are known for theirl silog meals (SInangag and ITlog paired up with meat, fish or chicken). Originally located in Project 3, Quezon City, this tapsilugan now has 3 branches located in Marikina and QC.

During our visit, I was not able to dine-in the resto but this branch that I have visited located in Project 3 was their newest branch. It has spacious parking lot and wide and vibrant dining area.
The A/Cs are not working during our visit and there was lack of ventilation mainly because of the numerous lights inside the dining area.
The crews are accommodating and the waiting time for food was just enough.

We ordered Sisig and I got to try their cheesecake for take out.
Sisig was spicy and flavorful.
The cheesecake was so thin, I can't barely taste the cheese. :D

I'll be coming back to this place to try their famous bulalo and tapsilog and of course give you updates.

Your-not-so-ordinary-burger

Started in August 2015, this burger joint by Julio's located in Nakpil, Taft Manila offers a mouthwatering quarter pound patty between a not-so-ordinary bun. The bun is made from Brioche bun; a type of pastry that is made from egg and butter thus, gives you rich, light and slightly puffy bread but flaky crust.
The burger patty is made from 100% tenderloin~ so juicy and savory and a secret sauce that has been passed on within the family through generations.
When we tried their famous burger, I'd say this burger stands out from the burgers that I have tasted. It gives you that sweetness because of the bread, salty and juicy because of the patty and slightly tangy but well balanced sauce.

They have been chosen by Globe as one of the Most Inspired Start Up business and they have a stall located in Mercato Centrale, BGC. (this is where I had my first bite of their famous burger)

Price per burger Php79 a definite value for money!
A definite must try, you're gonna come back running to this joint asking for more!

They offer waffle dessert, Patbingsu, Iced and hot coffee, etc.
To be honest, I didn't find their waffle "special" among other waffles I have tasted. It's really crispy on the edges but really "fluffy" inside.. almost like a pancake.
It was just an ordinary waffle topped with ice cream, syrup, nuts and whipped cream.
We tried their coffee as well, it was too bitter and watery.
We ordered their "specialty" Chocolate Fountain - waffle is made of chocolate, Mango Madness (topped with mango fruits) and the last one was Nokcha (green tea ice cream toppings)

The place is really small but cute and homey.
Price 150-200 per person.

Bagnet ~ locally called as "chicharon". Usually found in Ilocos, Philippines. Made from pork fat and meat. Fried to perfection.

I have been wanting to try this crispy Bagnet and I have been amazed how they were able to maintain the crispiness to form it into another type of viand.
Located in the food district near Maginhawa, this Food compound called "Z Compound" in Malingap St. is like food heaven for everyone.

We ordered:
Bagnet Sisig 3.5 / 5 (too mushy for me, less crisp)
Bagnet Binagoongan 4/5 (right amount of saltiness and crispiness)
Bagnet Kare-kare 3.5 / 5 (kare-kare sauce is not that savory)
Original Bagnet 4/5

Service was really fast.

We ordered:
1. Roasted Pumpkin Wrap (Grilled whole weat tortillo bread, with roasted pumpkin, salsa, garlic infused herbed cheese, roasted wallnuts, fresh basil with creamy yogurt dressing)
2. Fuji Apple &Chicken Sandwich (sliced sweet fuji apples, pan grilled citrus ginger chicken breast, cucumbers, cilantro, spring onions, lettuce, japanese mayo in ciabatta bread)
3. Cold Genmaicha Lemon Teaz - (one of their best sellers) i love how the lemon balances the green tea (smells like nori wrapper) but tastes really good and refreshing
4. Match Lemon Teaz - Japanese Green Tea
5. Minced Spinach Soup

Recommended drinks: Jasmine Lemon Teaz and Genmaicha Lemon Teaz
Will I come back here? Definitely!

Ukulele + Coffee?? I kid not! This is the perfect cafe for those ukulele players and coffee lovers. No matter how old you are, you get to enjoy the feel of coziness and good vibe inside this little coffee shop.

I was interested to visit this place mainly because of 2 things:
1. Ukulele
2. Because why not? :)

You can rent their ukulele for 100/ hr & you can also buy those ukuleles hanging in their wall of chords. -- Well at least I call it "The great Wall of Chords" because it has ukulele chords printed as a mural :)

Our first visit was October 2015 and there was Treat or Treat event that was happening so we didn't get the chance to totally hang out but the second time we visited here was just this month (November) and we got ourselves some cozy dining area.

We ordered:
*Uku Ramen Php 150 - totally worth it ramen! Right amount of spiciness, al dente noodles in huge bowl. You can actually share it with someone.
*Iced caramel macchiato Php 155 ~ unlike the normal caramel macchiato that we order in other coffee shop, this is actually milkier.
*Raspberry Iced Tea Php 90 ~ because the barista told me this is the best seller. :) It was sweet and the taste of raspberry is not really distinct but highly recommended to quench your thirst.

Price per person 150~300

Always a good place to spend your weekend or Friday night chill out :)

I have always loved the ambiance of Army Navy and is always one of my go-to restaurants for burgers, burritos and more.

They have added all-day breakfast in their menu, so you get to have that "Silog" meals any time of the day.
Freedom fries is always in our order list whenever we dine-in any of Army Navy branches.
Reason? Well, they have the crispiest, mouthwatering, tangy fries that will make your palette jumping for joy!
During our visit, I got the chance to try out their Bacon Breakfast (consists of Bacon, Longganisa, sunny side up egg and Garlic rice). We also ordered their regular burger (Classic Quarter pound beef patty) simple but satisfying indeed! ~ and lastly, LiberTea (iced tea) it has the right amount of sweetness and citrus flavor.

Service was quite good and dining area was clean.

Just like normal buffet and grill-all-you-want meat and seafood.
I commend however, their sushi which was served fresh.
I like how they managed to limit the food variation but still able to deliver good quality of food.
I love the ambiance of the dining area but I find their comfort room too dark. They might want to consider changing their lights in that area.
Staff were accommodating and they seem to manage the cleanliness of the dining area considering it was peak hours during our visit.

Value for money I tell you ~ 99 pesos for Bibimbap is good enough to satisfy your hunger, If you're really hugry, just add a couple of peso and you'll get a large size Bibimbap.
You can choose from pork, chicken or beef as your protein and the rest of the veggies are surrounded in the plate (onions, carrots, cabbage, kimchi, bean sprout and I think the last one is green papaya?) and egg on top of steamed rice.

The best way to eat it is to mix it all together so that the tangy and spicy hint from Kimchi and sweetness from the veggies are well blended.

Waiting time of food is always fast.

Budget per person 99~150.

This quaint coffee shop which serves aromatic coffee is located inside a digital tech shop.
On first look, you would think that products are pricey but think again.
From the name itself Recession Coffee, the concept of this coffee shop is that it gives its customers a decision on how much they are willing to pay but still get the same quality and same amount of coffee.

From their menu, you can decide to pay whatever amount even Php 1 :)
I think the lowest given was 1 peso and the highest was 300.
They also offer cakes and some free candies as well.
Staff were friendly and I love the vibrant ambiance of the shop.

A nice place to read books, finish your work or just hang out with friends, I will definitely come back here for sure!
My new favorite coffee shop :)
